APPLICATIONS

I have now got my insurance and have successfully applied for the Erina handmade craft market (20th Nov), Avoca Beachside Markets (4th Sunday of every month) and the Central Coast Christmas Fair (11th Dec).

Light Bulb

So a few months ago now I had this light bulb moment...What could I do with all the left over fabric from my collection??? LIGHT BULB!!!.... I could make bikinis and beach bags and sell them at the local markets over summer! It had been so long since I felt inspired (6months) so I started straight away with this idea. During this time Clarksons (a local warehouse at Erina http://www.facebook.com/pages/Clarksons-Cash-Carry/129870920423632) had just received a truckload of fabric from a store that had recently closed down. I ended up finding some beautiful prints including silks and mesh fabrics that could be used to make Kaftans!
It was time to start designing, sewing and researching so I could start applying for the local markets ASAP!

Eclectic Fusion

Trans-seasonal 2011

Eclectic Fusion, an edgy street womenswear collection, emerged from my travels to the inspiring country of Vietnam. It was during my travels that I came across a mosaic of ethnic hill tribe minority groups including the Hmong found in the mountainous terrain of the village of Sapa.

Inspired by the colours and textures of their traditional dress, textile art, pleated skirts and silver jewellery adorning their bodies, this trans-seasonal collection infuses the vibrant colours and textures of the traditional indigo dyeing techniques, pleated skirts and aprons with contemporary prints and silhouettes creating an ‘Eclectic Fusion’.

The simple silhouettes of the garments compliment the loud and vibrant prints used throughout the collection which were created from pleats and hand dyed shibori fabric which were digitally manipulated into repeat textile prints onto denim and synthentic fabrics.

The balance of tradition and contemporary results in a collection that is young, funky and ready to wear in the contemporary street scene.

'Eclectic Fusion' 2010 UTS graduate show

My graduate collection 'Eclectic Fusion' at the UTS graduate show 2010.
The night is a bit of a blur. After all the lead up, late nights, stress and hard work, the show went so quick! It was such a rush to see my collection walking down the runway with my closest friends and family who supported me throughout the 4 years in the audience. A night and experience I will never forget.
